In the Premier League Manchester Derby, Manchester United hosted Manchester City. Luke Shaw was not included in the matchday squad, marking the first time the Manchester United left-back has missed a Premier League match since the start of last season.

Luke Shaw missed the midweek Champions League match against Qarabag. Manchester United manager Carrick stated that Luke Shaw had experienced cramping when he was substituted against Everton and that the club did not want to take any risks.

However, the Manchester United left-back remained unavailable for the Premier League match against Manchester City.

This is the first Premier League match Luke Shaw has missed since the start of last season. He started all 38 Premier League matches last season and all three Premier League matches at the start of this season.
