Paris Saint-Germain held on for their first Ligue 1 victory of 2026-27, as Ferran Torres' early goal secured a narrow 1-0 win over Brest.

The reigning champions were winless across their first three league games, but this time around, they held onto their lead and turned it into three points at Stade Francis-Le Ble.

PSG were in front after just five minutes when Ferran intercepted Joris Chotard's loose pass. He powered forward and exchanged passes with Ousmane Dembele before curling home.

Ludovic Ajorque and Pathe Mboup both saw tame efforts saved either side of a Dembele effort at the other end, before Khvicha Kvaratkshelia's curler was tipped over by Egil Selvik.

Kvaratkshelia then flashed a wild effort wide, shortly after PSG saw Achraf Hakimi go off with an injury, while Dembele's tight-angled shot was hit straight into Selvik's gloves on the stroke of half-time.

Nuno Mendes was given a reprieve five minutes into the second half as Kamory Doumbia could only fire against the post after intercepting a sloppy pass on the edge of the box.

Bradley Locko then turned into his own net after a shove from Warren Zaire-Emery, with a potential second goal for PSG immediately ruled out.

Doumbia's flying header was well kept out by Matvey Safonov moments later, before Selvik recovered brilliantly to keep out Joao Neves' tight-angled shot at the other end.

Brest kept pushing until the end, with Safonov again making a sharp stop to deny Mboup, as PSG held on for their precious first victory.

PSG get up and running... finally

Luis Enrique was fairly calm about PSG's recent form heading into this match, but the pressure might have really started to increase had they not done the business here.

After squandering their lead against Monaco last weekend in a shock 2-1 loss, PSG did respond in midweek, putting six past Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League.

Ferran was on target in that game, too, netting a hat-trick, and he has already helped himself to six goals in his first five appearances for PSG.

Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (also six) matched that tally across his first five matches in the club's history.

The win did not come easy, though, despite PSG getting seven of their 15 shots on target (accumulating 1.16 expected goals in the process).

Brest edged the xG battle with 1.31 and they had 16 shots. Five of those tested Safonov, bringing out the best in the goalkeeper.

Since their promotion to the league for the 2019-20 season, Brest have now lost 13 Ligue 1 matches against PSG (D1), with no side losing more games to a single opponent
