Serie C side Pescara have joined the growing list of clubs releasing statements on the topic of the recently revitalised European Super League project, joking that they will not comment on the matter due to their lack of invitation. 

Several major sides across Europe, including Roma, Inter and Atalanta in Serie A, as well as Manchester City and Tottenham in the Premier League, have begun to clarify their official stances on the Super League project following the announcement of new proposals on Thursday morning. 

A22 have put forward plans to launch a three-tiered competition involving 64 European clubs in a system that would involve promotion and relegation between ‘divisions’. 

The new plans came immediately after a ruling from the European Court of Justice that deemed both FIFA and UEFA to have ‘abused a dominant position’ in relation to the organisation of tournaments. 

In what has been a busy day of serious Super League stances and opinions, Pescara opted to make light of the situation and joked that they would not be involved, as they had not been invited to take part originally. 

The third division side wrote on X: “Pescara Calcio confirms that, having not received an invitation to the Super League, it will not make any statements on the matter.”
