Edin Dzeko has signed a new one-year deal with Schalke.

The 40-year-old spent the second half of last season with Schalke, helping them secure promotion to the Bundesliga after winning the German second division.
Dzeko made an immediate impact in Germany, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 11 games, six of which were starts.
Following his debut in January, only Mohamed Ali Zoma (98.8) had a better minutes per goal ratio than Dzeko (99.8) among players to score at least three goals.
And in that same time, only Kenan Karaman (10) directly contributed to more goals than Dzeko (nine) for Schalke.
"Since winter, I've experienced a fantastic team and amazing fans at Schalke," Dzeko told the club website.
"Promotion to the Bundesliga is one of the highlights of my career. It was extraordinary.
"Football has made me happy and driven me my whole life. I'm still hungry. And I want to help our team in the Bundesliga as well."

Dzeko has previous Bundesliga experience, representing Wolfsburg between 2007 and 2011.
He scored 66 goals and registered 20 assists in 111 appearances in the competition, while also winning the league title in 2008-09.
Only Grafite, Dzeko's strike partner at Wolfsburg, recorded more goals (28) and direct goal contributions (33) than Dzeko (26 and 32) in the 2008-09 Bundesliga season.
Schalke begin their 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign on August 30 away to Augsburg, while their first home game comes against reigning champions Bayern Munich six days later.
