According to The Sun, the son of former Manchester United player Mark Hughes, Alex Hughes, died of sudden adult death syndrome.

Alex Hughes was 38 when he passed away and held a senior position in the player recruitment department at Grimsby Town.

A post-mortem investigation revealed that Alex died after collapsing on his bedroom floor at home.

At around 7 am on June 19, Alex's two sons found him unresponsive at his £1.2 million home in Prestbury, Cheshire.

The post-mortem investigation learned that Alex's eldest son had performed CPR on his father, but ultimately could not save him.

Cheshire Coroner's Court was informed that doctors attributed the cause of death to sudden adult death syndrome.

A hearing in Warrington heard that the condition typically affects young men, with approximately 800 cases annually in England.

Area Coroner Victoria Davies ruled the cause of death as sudden adult death syndrome, stating that the death was also due to natural causes.

Mark Hughes, 62, a two-time Premier League winner, said the family was "heartbroken" after Alex's sudden passing on June 19.

Last month, football figures gathered at St. Peter's Church in Prestbury, Cheshire, to mourn Alex, with legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson leading the farewell ceremony.

Alex was born in 1987 when Mark was playing for Barcelona. He later played briefly in Wales.

After that, he moved into a behind-the-scenes role, first as a match analyst at Blackburn.

Manchester City then signed him as a scout, and he also served as chief analyst at Fulham, another club his father had played for.

Later, Alex forged his own career path, working as a consultant for 1860 Munich and Reading.

In 2024, he became Director of Football at AFC Fylde, before returning to Morecambe and Grimsby in key scouting roles.
