As Chelsea's transfer focus shifts from potential players to more experienced ones, former Chelsea defender G.Johnson believes that Zubimendi would be a more suitable choice.

G.Johnson stated in an interview: "I think Zubimendi would be an excellent signing for Chelsea. I don't understand why Arsenal would even bring in players to replace him, given how important he was to the team last season.

"He previously worked with Alonso at Real Sociedad, so if Alonso still wants to push for Chelsea to sign him now, he must really admire this player. He is now a Premier League champion, so his level will only be higher than when they last worked together.

"I would be surprised if Arsenal actually let him join Chelsea. But if they do, they can only be called foolish. He performed very well last season and knows what it takes to win the Premier League, which is exactly what Chelsea needs.

"He can become the core of Chelsea's midfield next season. If Alonso truly wants him as reported, then the club should do everything they can to sign him."

Since taking office, Alonso has been trying to strengthen the team in various positions, and Johnson is particularly optimistic about the French international Lacroix, who joined from Crystal Palace.

Johnson added: "Lacroix is Chelsea's best signing this summer, without a doubt. This is a very shrewd signing. They signed him at a good price, and he has rich Premier League experience, so I think Chelsea got a very good player at a good price, and he is expected to form an excellent central defensive partnership with Colwill.

"Palestra is also an exciting signing. He is a very talented young player, obviously still learning, but given time, he has the potential to become a very influential player for Chelsea under Alonso."
