According to Il Messaggero, Roma's third choice for forward reinforcement is Como forward Assane Diao, who is currently only a secondary target.

Diao, born in 2005, is Senegalese and meets the Giallorossi's recruitment standards in terms of age, characteristics, and development prospects. Roma's sporting director D'Amico's current priority is still Porto's 2007 rising star Rodrigo Mora, and the club is waiting for their final answer regarding this transfer. If the Mora transfer falls through, Roma's second choice is Lyon winger Malick Fofana, who is also a player much admired by coach Gasperini. Only if negotiations for Fofana also encounter difficulties will Roma consider Diao, though Lyon's asking price for Fofana is as high as approximately 40 million euros.

Diao has made 35 appearances for Como, contributing 10 goals and 2 assists. According to Transfermarkt.com, his market value is around 30 million euros, and his contract expires in 2029.
