According to Goal.com, Flick has identified Barcelona's top defensive target for the centre-back position.

According to journalist Gerard Romero, RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba has attracted significant interest from Flick. Flick believes the French defender can improve Barcelona's defensive line in terms of pace and physicality, while also possessing excellent ball-playing ability from the back.
Lukeba joined RB Leipzig from Lyon in 2023 and quickly became a key player for the German club, making over 100 appearances.
At 23 years old, Lukeba is a left-footed centre-back, a characteristic that could make him a natural successor to Iñigo Martínez in Barcelona's lineup. With his age advantage and development in the Bundesliga, he could also represent a long-term investment.
While Flick is keen on Lukeba, signing the defender will not be straightforward. RB Leipzig has already lost several key players in this transfer window, including Jean-Diomande and Loïs Openda.
Although RB Leipzig signed Maxime Estève to bolster their defence, given that Lukeba's contract runs until 2029, the German club will not easily part with this defensive cornerstone.
This gives RB Leipzig considerable leverage in negotiations, and Barcelona may need to pay over €50 million to secure the French defender.
In the transfer market, Barcelona's primary focus remains signing a new striker, with Julián Álvarez still the club's number one target among their main objectives.
Therefore, whether Barcelona can push through the Lukeba transfer depends on whether the club's board can complete the striker purchase, as well as the club's financial situation and actual need to strengthen their central defence.
