On August 25, Bayern coach Kompany spoke about the new season in an interview with Sport Bild.

This is your third year in Munich. To what extent have you incorporated leather pants into your wardrobe?
Kompany: I definitely have a few pairs of leather pants already. Not just me, but my family too, and the kids as well. We're slowly getting used to this tradition. Yes, it's certainly a very beautiful tradition, and we're happy to participate in it.
You've had two very successful seasons. How will you approach the new season? What aspects can be done differently or better?
Kompany: Actually, a large part of our meeting today focused on this issue. We must realize that we cannot ease off our efforts—we need to do more. We need to maintain this momentum and this hunger. If we sense that others might want us to do less or think our motivation will decrease, that should give us even greater energy and motivation to try to win everything again.
How specifically do you plan to "do more"? Who needs to improve?
Kompany: There's always a lot we can improve and do better. Last season was record-breaking. This means we can't simply think about repeating the same achievements. We have many more goals to achieve. Not just in one season—I believe that over time, we can win many trophies, and that's our goal.
The team has made two important signings this summer: Brown and Saibari. Brown made a striking appearance at number 10 in Saturday's German Super Cup and scored immediately. Is he a genuine option for attacking midfield?
Kompany: We had some players unavailable at the time, such as Kahr, Gnabry, and Musiala. So we always assess our squad to see which players can play which positions.
It could also have been Laimer or Bischoff. They might perform better in other positions, but they all understand our game and can always help the team in such situations. Brown has the ability to move between the lines. He can create goal-scoring opportunities, which are very important characteristics for this position. So he can continue to help us there. Of course, he's not our only option.
What's Kane's status and role in the team?
Kompany: He's an absolute leader and someone who knows how to maintain a constant desire to win. In his twenties, he might have yearned for more trophies. Now, in his thirties, he understands more clearly that if time remains and he's at the right club, he must win everything possible. So his role as a role model is very important. I'll make full use of that, because this mentality must be felt by the entire team.
Finally, let's look at the upcoming league match against Stuttgart. They play very active and brave football. Will this be a direct test of the team's maturity and an opportunity to assess their strength?
Kompany: Yes, that's how the schedule falls. We started with Dortmund, and now we face a home game against Stuttgart. Both are consistently strong teams. Stuttgart has one of the best coaches in Germany, who has been in the position for a long time and built the team continuously. You can feel that this is a team that always wants to achieve more and has higher aspirations. I believe it will be an exciting match. That's often been the case against Stuttgart in the past. Of course, ultimately, our goal is to get three points and keep winning.
