On August 27, Wolves officially announced that 39-year-old goalkeeper John Ruddy rejoined the club as a free agent, with both sides signing a one-year contract.

After four years away from the club, goalkeeper John Ruddy has returned to Wolves, signing a one-year contract to begin his second spell at the club.

The 39-year-old Ruddy played at Molineux for five years and played a key role in the team's promotion to the Premier League. He now returns to bolster the goalkeeping group led by José Sá.

The former Norwich goalkeeper first joined Wolves in 2017. Under Nuno Espírito Santo, he was the team's starting goalkeeper in the season they won the Championship. That season he kept 24 clean sheets, won the league's Golden Glove award, and was named to the Team of the Season.

One of the most memorable moments came in the Welsh capital, where he saved a Cardiff City penalty in stoppage time, securing the league title and helping the team return to the Premier League.

After promotion, Ruddy served as backup to Rui Patrício and José Sá for four consecutive seasons, setting high standards in the dressing room and continuously challenging other goalkeepers in training.

After leaving Wolves, Ruddy played 87 Championship matches for Birmingham and was voted the club's Player of the Season by his teammates in 2023. He then had a spell at Newcastle United, winning the Carabao Cup with the team.
