Beijing time (CEST), September 1 — Rüdiger announced on social media that he is retiring from the German national team.

Full text of Rüdiger's official retirement statement
After much consideration, I have decided to end my international career and make way for the next generation.
In 2014, when I first put on the German national team jersey, I never dreamed that I would go on to represent my country in 86 matches.
Although we have failed to win major tournaments recently and suffered some painful defeats, this period has been an invaluable experience for me, and it will shape me forever.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to:
My teammates: Thank you for every tackle we fought together, for the friendship in the dressing room, for our time together—and most importantly, for the deep friendships we have built that transcend football.
All coaching staff and support staff: Thank you for your trust and hard work behind the scenes over the years. Special thanks to Löw, Flick, and Nagelsmann for accompanying me on this journey with the German national team and for having such a profound influence on me. Also, thank you to my mentor in the U-national team, Horst Hrubesch.
And of course, thank you to you, the fans: Thank you for your support—especially for the incredible atmosphere at Euro 2024, which we hosted.
Now I am starting a new chapter in my life, and I will dedicate myself entirely to my club responsibilities.
Thank you for your support all these years.
