According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal will rotate in the League Cup, with Zubimendi, Gyökeres, and Eze vying for an opportunity.

Arsenal is expected to rotate, but the squad has plenty of depth, especially in midfield, so even with significant changes to the starting lineup, this competition should be one where the club hopes to go far.

Arteta has largely used the same starting lineup in the Premier League, making these cup matches even more important for players hoping to earn an opportunity.

Here are 3 players who need to seize their chance against Ipswich:

Martin Zubimendi has yet to start this season, with all 5 appearances coming off the bench. Three of these came in the last 10 minutes of the match.

In contrast, at this stage last season, Zubimendi had not only started the first 5 games but also played the full 90 minutes in each.

He scored twice in the win against Nottingham Forest and quickly established himself as a regular alongside Rice.

But the situation is different now. Zubimendi's midfield position has fallen behind Skelly and Guimarães.

However, this is a good thing for Arsenal. Last season, Zubimendi's form clearly declined in the second half of the season due to overload, ultimately leading to physical exhaustion.

This time, that situation should not be repeated, but Zubimendi will want to push his way back into the Premier League's starting XI, starting with a strong performance against Ipswich.

Gyökeres's decline has been even greater.

In Arsenal's four league matches this season, he wasn't even on the bench for three of them. In another victory against Chelsea, he only got 12 minutes.

Arsenal hopes to go far in all four competitions, and Havertz has a history of injuries in recent seasons, so Gyökeres should still get plenty of playing time throughout the season.

When the opportunity arises, Arsenal needs more from him. If he can find space and score in the box, his limited involvement in the overall attack can still be overlooked.

Last season in the league, 11 of Gyökeres's 14 goals came against teams in the bottom half of the table. The other 3 goals were scored at home against Sunderland and Bournemouth.

So, Ipswich is exactly the kind of opponent he should enjoy facing.

This League Cup away trip also feels like a particularly important night for Eze.

Ødegaard's form has improved, and Merino is currently more favored, making Eze's path to playing time in midfield increasingly crowded.

His playing position is actually more often on the left, but even so, opportunities are scarce because Saka is currently the preferred option on the left.

Eze was active after coming on as a substitute against Aston Villa and was involved in Arsenal's winning goal in that match.

But beyond that, he has had a quiet start to the season. He didn't make much of an impact when starting against Napoli, and his other substitute appearances have been relatively low-key.

When Saka is at his best, he drifts inside from the left, combining with Ødegaard in the middle. Three of his four assists have been for the Arsenal captain.

This role should suit Eze well: primarily operating from the left but also having the freedom to cut inside.

However, there have been few signs of him reaching his best form so far this season. If he wants to be more than just a rotation option, this situation must change.
