According to Mike Verweij of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Yves Bissouma has arrived in Amsterdam and is undergoing a medical examination with Ajax. The midfielder will sign a contract until mid-2027, with an option to extend for one year.

Earlier this summer, African media reported Ajax's interest in Bissouma, but the Amsterdam club never seriously pursued the deal. Now, two weeks after the transfer deadline, Bissouma remains without a club, and Ajax is willing to give it a try.

The defensive midfielder became a free agent after leaving Tottenham, where he made 111 appearances. Tottenham had signed him from Brighton four years ago for €30 million.

Tottenham decided not to renew Bissouma's contract after he shared a video on Snapchat in August 2024 showing him inhaling nitrous oxide from a balloon. Tottenham subsequently suspended the midfielder ahead of the match against Leicester City. Bissouma later apologized, calling it "a serious lapse in judgment". Ajax now hopes to give him a second chance.

This summer, Ajax has brought several players to Johan Cruyff Arena. Amrabat, Blind, Godfrey, Torrents, and Brandt all joined on free transfers. Tolu, Kehrer, Ter Stegen, and Adingra joined on loan, and Ajax also paid transfer fees for Tsygankov, Caio Henrique, and Marcos Leonardo at €3 million, €10 million, and €20 million respectively.
