According to the Liverpool Echo, Mac Allister's father Carlos said that Liverpool has not yet contacted them to discuss a contract extension.

Mac Allister previously spoke about his future ahead of the Champions League match against Atlético Madrid. He said there were currently no negotiations between the two parties regarding a contract extension, which is due to expire in 2028, describing the situation as "very, very sad".

Mac Allister said: "Everyone knows I had the possibility of leaving this summer. The message I received was that the club was unable to offer me a new contract at the time, which of course made me very, very sad. The club didn't speak directly to me; they communicated with my agent. I don't want to speculate on what they didn't say, but my agent told me they couldn't renew my contract at that time."

The following evening, Mac Allister scored with his left foot from the edge of the penalty area in the Champions League match against Atlético Madrid at Anfield, helping Liverpool secure a 2-1 comeback victory.

Following Mac Allister's comments, the Liverpool Echo launched a poll that received nearly 3,500 votes, with 88% of participants believing Liverpool should extend the Argentine midfielder's contract. Szoboszlai and Gravenberch have both signed new contracts with Liverpool in recent months, and Mac Allister referenced his two teammates when discussing his contract situation.

Mac Allister's father Carlos told 365Scores: "Liverpool has not contacted us about a contract extension so far. Our contract with Liverpool remains valid, and we respect it. If the club does not offer a contract extension, that is their right and decision. Now Mac Allister needs to perform at his best for the club in every match."

Regarding his teammates' contract extensions and potential interest from Real Madrid, Carlos said: "Mac Allister was not disappointed by Szoboszlai's contract extension. It is a decision made by the club, and we will not judge their decisions—we will only prepare for what may happen next. No one from Real Madrid has ever contacted us throughout Mac Allister's career."
