Inter Miami officially announced that Argentine coach Cristian "Kily" González has arrived in South Florida to take over the team. After completing the necessary work permit procedures, he will officially assume his duties as head coach, with a contract valid until June 2028.

Inter Miami is scheduled to face Mexican club Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup on Wednesday night local time. González will lead the team's first training session on Tuesday morning in preparation for this match.

If the relevant procedures are completed smoothly, the match against Cruz Azul will be González's first opportunity to coach Inter Miami from the sidelines, as the team aims for another championship trophy.

González's coaching career began with the Rosario Central reserve team. After two seasons, he was promoted to first-team head coach, leading the team in 68 matches over three seasons from 2020 to 2022.

Subsequently, González took over Unión de Santa Fe, coaching 78 matches over three seasons from 2023 to 2025. His most recent coaching position was as head coach of Platense in the 2025 season.

As a player, González was a midfielder with a notable career. He came through the Rosario Central youth system and made his professional debut in 1993. After a brief spell at Boca Juniors, he moved to Europe in 1996 to join Real Zaragoza.

He subsequently played for Valencia and Inter Milan, winning several major honors. During his time at Valencia, he won the Supercopa de España in 2000. At Inter Milan, he won back-to-back Coppa Italia titles in 2005 and 2006, and the Serie A title in 2006.

At the international level, González earned 56 caps for Argentina and won the gold medal in men's football at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
