Speaking about Franco Baresi, Saelemaekers said: "I want to express my condolences to Franco Baresi's entire family and everyone close to him. I say this on behalf of all my teammates. Although I have only just arrived in Perth, my first conversations with others have all revolved around Franco Baresi, and I can feel the sadness everyone felt upon hearing of his passing. Even though Franco wasn't always present at our matches, he always gave great advice and encouraging words every time he saw us, which was truly incredible.

Young people like me, who didn't get to see him play, can still see his love for the jersey and everything he gave for the team. He made people feel that Milan blood flowed in their veins, and he conveyed that to us every time he saw us. For us, these days have been very sad, and we regret not being able to attend the funeral. When asked about his first contact with the head coach and coaching staff, he said: "It was great from the start.
