Premier League champions Arsenal kicked off the new season in style, cruising to a 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Coventry at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta's men were simply too good in every department for the Sky Blues - too quick, too strong and far more clinical in front of goal.
This wasn't just a victory to start the season - this was a statement of intent.

Arsenal (4-3-3)
David Raya - 6.5
A quiet night’s work indeed. Had to be alert for Loum Tchaouna’s ambitious effort in the first half but otherwise very few moments in which he was called upon.
Ben White - 7
Good connection with Bukayo Saka, constantly looking for interchanges with the winger. Threatening in final third too was some crisp crosses.
Cristhian Mosquera - 6.5
Looked composed, enjoying time on the ball. Complemented Gabriel well in a game Arsenal dominated.
Gabriel - 6.5
Stood up well to the physical challenge posed by Ellis Simms.

Riccardo Calafiori - 7
Brilliant work to assist Kai Havertz's opener. Relished advancing up the pitch and joining in the attack. The unorthodox positions he occupies give opponents nightmares.
Declan Rice - 7
Had a few sighters at goal, the closest of which was a left-footed curling strike that sailed just wide, and showed a hunger to try and get on scoresheet. That's the area of his game that can improve.
Myles Lewis-Skelly - 7
Kept trying to move the ball up the pitch when in possession, not allowing Coventry a chance to catch their breath. Thriving in that midfield role.
Bukayo Saka - 7.5
Afforded so much time and space to drive at Jay Dasilva and saw multiple shots and crosses deflected wide. Easy tap-in to get on the scoresheet.

Martin Odegaard - 8.5
Full of energy in the middle of the park and proving why he is the key cog in this team. He’s full of confidence and now fully fit.
Christos Tzolis - 9
Coventry defence were terrified of the Greek winger. His interception fed Calafiori for the Havertz goal, and then his cross led to Saka’s goal. Really promising start to his Arsenal career.
Kai Havertz - 7.5
Fully fit and embracing the role as Arsenal’s No 1 striker. Composed first-time finish put the Gunners ahead.
