Ambrosini recently gave an interview to SportMania24, where he commented on the recent controversies in Italian football surrounding Maldini, Leonardo, and Andrea Pirlo. He stated frankly that the way these incidents were handled left a bad impression of Italian football in front of the whole world.

Ambrosini said: "The various statements circulating at that time were ridiculous. I feel very sad about it because the whole thing was handled terribly. Whether it was the process or the final decision, we left a bad, even terrible, image to the whole world."
"As an Italian, this makes me feel both ashamed and disgusted."
Regarding the choice of head coach for the Italian national team, Ambrosini stated that he would not prioritize Roberto Mancini, but this does not mean he believes Mancini cannot lead the team to the FIFA World Cup.
"I wouldn't choose Mancini, even though he's a good coach. But that doesn't mean he can't lead Italy to the FIFA World Cup."
In contrast, Ambrosini more readily acknowledged the abilities of Maldini and Leonardo. He believes that the two have a clearer development philosophy and long-term vision.
"Compared to Ranieri, Maldini and Leonardo are better choices. They have clear ideas and plans. I hope they can truly implement their proposals, because I know they could have carried out a certain type of work."
In addition, Ambrosini also defended Pirlo. He believes that the external criticism of the Italian legendary midfielder was too harsh.
"I also wouldn't rule out Pirlo's possibility of success. Some absurd things have been said about him in Italy. We Italians can be really harsh sometimes."
