The 2026-27 Champions League draw is approaching, with two Norwegian teams participating for the first time in the 21st century.

This season, both Bodø/Glimt and Viking competed in the Champions League qualifiers. Bodø/Glimt defeated Eredivisie side NEC 6-1 on aggregate in the play-offs, while Viking eliminated Dinamo Zagreb with a 5-3 aggregate score.

Last season, Bodø/Glimt made their Champions League debut, reaching the round of 16. This marked the return of a Norwegian team to the Champions League stage after 17 years.

This season, Bodø/Glimt has qualified for the main tournament for the second consecutive year, and Viking has advanced to the group stage/league phase of the Champions League for the first time.

The last time two Norwegian teams participated in the Champions League main tournament was in the 1999-00 season, when Rosenborg and Molde competed. Molde was eliminated in the group stage, while Rosenborg advanced to the second group stage.

In 2026, the Norwegian national team advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Cup after a 28-year absence, and two Norwegian teams have qualified for the Champions League main tournament. Undoubtedly, this is a spring for Norwegian football.
