On Monday, France Football released a preview of its exclusive interview with Mbappé (the full interview is due to be published this Friday), in which the French striker spoke about his hopes for the Ballon d'Or, amongst other topics.

Mbappé said: “Who would I vote for in the Ballon d'Or? I’d vote for myself. This is an individual award that judges a player's performance on a personal level. Some say I haven’t won a team title? I've never seen a Ballon d’Or where a nominee has met all the criteria and received a unanimous vote.”
“Has anyone in history ever won the Ballon d'Or with 100 per cent of the vote? No. This shows that there will always be those who feel the winner does not deserve the honour. Becoming the all-time leading goalscorer in World Cup history is a dazzling achievement.”
“To have been the top scorer in every major tournament bringing together the world’s finest players – I don’t know if anyone has ever achieved that before. I have always held the view that historic achievements deserve to be recognised. Weighing up all the arguments and looking at the competition… after giving it some thought, I realise that, yes, if I were to win the Ballon d'Or, it would by no means be a stolen honour.”
