According to Sport, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente addressed the post-World Cup final clashes, stating that such behavior was unacceptable.

De la Fuente appeared as a guest on the show "El Rondo". The Spanish coach, who led Spain to World Cup victory in July, recounted in detail what happened during the World Cup final against Argentina. The match was intense, with frequent fouls and numerous contentious moments.

De la Fuente said that despite the high intensity, the Spanish team felt surprisingly composed on the field. He said: "We controlled the entire game. We never felt under pressure." De la Fuente also noted that if Spain had capitalized on their chances, they could have won "2-0 or 3-0", but in a tight contest, "anything can happen, especially against a team like Argentina."

De la Fuente confirmed that the coaching staff had anticipated Argentina's aggressive approach. The match against Uruguay had also been intense and gave the team valuable experience in dealing with Argentina's style. One of Spain's tactical principles was to avoid matching the opponent's intensity, as doing so would negate their own strengths.

De la Fuente also emphasized that football is a physical game where each team employs its own methods. He said: "Everything that happened on the field is normal. I played in the 1980s, and that kind of physical approach was standard."

Regarding the post-match incidents, De la Fuente was unequivocal. He said: "Everything that happened after the game is unacceptable. This is intolerable."

De la Fuente recalled that this final was the most-watched World Cup final in history, yet the lasting images were of post-match chaos, including altercations, shoving, and other unbecoming behavior. He believes such incidents should never occur at such a prestigious event.

De la Fuente concluded by stating that Spain successfully maintained its style, withstood the opponent's physical onslaught, and controlled a match that could have gone either way. However, his strongest message concerned what transpired after the final whistle: "Image matters, and what happened after the game cannot happen again."
