Fernando Torres Ranked 44th in Liverpool's 100 Greatest Players of All Time

Liverpool's official poll of the top 100 players in the club's history was announced in reverse order. On the early morning of June 20 Beijing time (CEST), Liverpool officially announced the 44th-ranked player: Fernando Torres.

During his three and a half years at Liverpool, Fernando Torres captivated Reds supporters, a period that was both glorious and bittersweet. In the summer of 2007, Torres joined Liverpool from Atlético Madrid, billed as a future superstar, and he quickly demonstrated his talent in English football.

His first goal, scored against Chelsea at Anfield in August, perfectly embodied his characteristics: a seamless combination of pace, ball control, speed, and finishing ability that created a virtually unstoppable force for defenders to handle.

He enjoyed one of the best debut seasons in club history, scoring 33 goals across all competitions, showcasing his ability to score with both feet and his head, whether assisted by teammates or creating chances himself.

The following season, Liverpool mounted a strong challenge for the Premier League title but ultimately finished as runners-up, with injuries reducing Torres's goal tally by half. In the 2009-10 season, Torres scored 22 goals again, but the team's performance declined, and manager Benítez departed after that season.

Speculation about his future intensified, and in January 2011, he left to join Chelsea in a controversial departure from the club.
