This week, Spanish Football Federation President Rafael Lazon confirmed in an exclusive interview with Spanish National Radio (RNE) that they are already discussing a contract extension with de la Fuente.

Rafael Lazon stated: "We are preparing for de la Fuente's contract extension. His current contract expires in 2028, and we hope to extend it beyond 2030, or around 2030."
"I believe he deserves this contract, and we are pushing for the extension. A few months after he took office, we completed a fair and necessary contract extension with him, and then he led the team to this success. The entire coaching staff also deserves credit."
"Therefore, we will continue to move forward, and in fact, we are already moving forward with the extension of his current contract, which runs until 2028, hoping to extend it beyond 2030 or around 2030, because he deserves to be part of it."
"Across various levels of Spanish football, de la Fuente is undoubtedly the most decorated coach. I believe his modesty and work ethic, coupled with an unforgettable group of players, jointly helped the Spanish national team achieve this success."
When asked where the 2030 World Cup final, co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, should be held, Lazon clearly stated: "It would be incomprehensible if this great World Cup final were not held in Spain."
"Spain certainly wants to host the final, and it's only right, as I said, Spain, along with Portugal, has been pushing for this event from the beginning. We hold 55% of the weight in the 2030 World Cup, so everyone knows what Spain means in the world of football."
