After Tottenham's 0-3 away loss to Brentford in the Premier League opener, Gray, who played at right-back in this game, spoke to Sky Sports.

Regarding the defeat:

It's quite simple: we lost too many duels. They fought harder than us in every area of the pitch. We need to review the game, as this is where we need to improve most.

They simply overpowered us in the duels. Sometimes in football, one team just outbattles another. For whatever reason, we weren't as prepared to fight as they were today.

This is our responsibility. As for the fans, their support today was incredible. We disappointed them in our opening game, and there is really nothing more to say.

I don't think there are any excuses. Each of us needs to reflect deeply and acknowledge that today's performance wasn't good enough. We lost too many duels, which was the main reason we lost the game.

Regarding improvement:

Obviously, we still have a lot of work to do. Looking at today’s performance, you can see there is plenty we need to improve. On the training ground, we are making progress. The team atmosphere has also improved compared to last season, which was too negative. Today certainly was not the start we wanted, but we have to find something positive and take that into Wednesday’s game.

The work we’ve been doing over the past week is heading in the right direction, but today we lost the duels against our opponents.

Obviously, this is a very special moment, and I’m grateful for the manager’s trust in me.
