Former Milan player Costacurta stated on Sky Sport Italia that Leao's potential transfer to Galatasaray made it clear how the Portuguese star is viewed in European football.

Costacurta said: "These two destinations (Galatasaray and Villa) show what kind of player Leao is seen as in European football. This is the trajectory of his career: it's a disappointment for me. It's a shame, he had good memories at Milan, but such moments have been too few in the past two years. Milan has always been far from contending for the title."

Leao had two offers at the time: Galatasaray offered an annual salary of 12 million euros, while Aston Villa offered 7.5 million euros per year. Initially, it was widely believed that the English team had the advantage due to the Premier League's reputation, but the player ultimately chose the Turkish club.
