Watkins made his Saudi League debut for Al-Hilal on Tuesday, scoring a goal. The 30-year-old English striker was impressed by the level of competition in the Saudi League.
In Al-Hilal's match against Al-Ahli, Watkins came on as a substitute at the start of the second half and scored to make it 3-0 near the end of the match. In the first half, Dutch international Summerville helped the team extend their lead to 2-0.
After the match, Watkins spoke about his first impressions of the Saudi League: "This match was truly Premier League level.
"It was a very physical, demanding game. The level of play was very high. I watched them during the Club World Cup and saw how well they played. I've been following the Saudi League standings, and they've been basically at the top."
Watkins also set high standards for himself: "I want to score in every game. I had a lot of chances today, but I'm still a bit rusty. I haven't trained much, but it will get better.
"With very smart players like Neves and Milinković-Savić behind me, the only thing I need to do is run into space."
