Stuttgart player Hanus refused to be compared with Argentine legend Messi.

Hanus appeared in Stuttgart's 4-1 victory over Cologne in the second round of the Bundesliga and scored in the 39th minute.

After the final whistle, someone compared Hanus's goal to one of Messi's goals.

According to YSscores, Hanus said: "I can't be compared to Messi. No player can be compared to Messi."

Hanus added: "Stuttgart is the best place for me to develop as a player. We play in the Champions League."

He continued: "In my short career, I have played in almost every competition, but the only thing missing is the Champions League. So I'm right to be here."

Hanus also said: "Yes, I received offers, but those were not the right options for me. After I came to Stuttgart, both sides agreed on a two-season development plan. I want to perform well and secure my place in the starting lineup."
