According to Sport1, Bayern CEO Dreesen commented on the boos directed at Neuer during Bayern's away match against Schalke 04.

Dreesen said: "After 15 years, I think it's completely unnecessary. Neuer has played so many excellent matches for this country and, as the national team's goalkeeper, has made many contributions. I don't think he would have reached this point today if he had stayed at Schalke. I think it's normal for a goalkeeper like that to make different choices later on."

Dreesen believes these boos are "unnecessary," but he also doesn't think the situation will change in the future: "This ritual will always exist. It's as certain as an amen in church."

Sport1 expert Stefan Effenberg noted that when Neuer transferred from Schalke 04 to Bayern in 2011, it also provoked angry reactions from fans, with the term "Koan Neuer" being used. Effenberg said: "We cannot forget how he was received when he joined Bayern. It wasn't friendly. But now that attitude has changed, and that is the most important thing for him."

Effenberg also recalled his own experiences as a controversial player: "I took all of that as motivation. We had a similar situation with Oliver Kahn back then. Someone threw 500 bananas into his penalty area before he even warmed up. I later spoke with him repeatedly: you have to take this as motivation, find the drive from within. That is very important."

Neuer himself told Sport1 on Saturday that the boos don't bother him: "That's love, I know. It's actually a compliment."

Neuer was born in Gelsenkirchen and came through the Schalke 04 youth academy, developing into a professional player at Schalke 04. In 2011, he transferred to Bayern, a move that was met with strong disapproval from Schalke fans, and he continued to be booed in the following years. Even among Bayern's core supporters, given his past as a committed Schalke supporter, he has always been a somewhat controversial figure.
