According to Japanese media Nikkan Sports, 25-year-old goalkeeper Reo Kokubo is expected to return to the Japan national team this month.

It is reported that during the September-October international break, the Japan national team has included goalkeeper Reo Kokubo (25, Sint-Truidense) and defender Daihachi Okamura (29, Machida Zelvia) in its candidate list.
Starting this season, the September and October international breaks have been merged, with four matches to be played in one training camp. Head coach Hajime Moriyasu hinted that the squad will be larger than usual, reaching approximately 30 players. As an excellent opportunity to test new talent, Kokubo, who has consistently played full matches since the start of the season in Belgium, has received a call-up, increasing the possibility of his return to the national team after a 10-month absence since last November. Okamura, who has shown his presence in the defense of the J1 league leaders, is expected to be selected for the national team for the first time, with the squad announcement awaited on the 17th. Due to an injury sustained on the 6th, his condition will be monitored until the last minute.
