In an interview on Cadena SER's "Què t'hi jugues!" program, Eric Garcia voiced support for a podium featuring all Barcelona players, particularly highlighting Yamal as the top candidate. He said: "For me, the podium should be all Barça players. Yamal should win. It's hard to believe that Pedri and Raphinha aren't on the list."

The player also expanded his list of candidates, believing other teammates deserve recognition as well: "Cubarsí – who is in the 30-man list – and Dani (Olmo) and Fermín should also be included, but I think Yamal should win." When asked about his top three, he didn't hesitate: "Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha."
Flick has played a decisive role in Garcia's recent development as a key member of the squad. "In my first year I didn't play much, but he gave me confidence. In the match against Benfica (January 21, 2025), I came on as a substitute and scored, then I got injured, and when I came back, he gave me a lot of confidence," he recalled.
This season, he has started all four matches at right-back, though Garcia can also play center-back and defensive midfield. He said: "I've always played center-back, but I'm also comfortable at right-back, thanks to a loan year at Girona. I like this position." Eric's ambitions even go further. He laughed and admitted he's asked the German coach to try him in other positions: "I told him, let me play striker one day."
After his teammates voted him into the leadership group, Eric also spoke about the team's objectives for the season. Barcelona's campaign has started promisingly, and he believes the team is ready to compete for all titles, particularly citing the Champions League as a key target. He said: "Over the past two years, we've fallen short by narrow margins, due to small details. We have a complete and very strong squad, and the Champions League has to be an objective."
The defender also commented on the quality of the new signings and Flick's high demands in training. He said: "The quality of training is very high. Antony (Gordon) and Karim (Adeyemi) can bring something different and both have experience. Karim always wants the ball at his feet, Gabriel will also help us, and Rodri in midfield needs no introduction – everyone is familiar with him. These are high-caliber signings."
During the conversation with Cadena SER, the topic of Ferran Torres was also raised. The player joined Paris Saint-Germain this summer, and PSG will face Barcelona in the Champions League group stage on October 20. Eric said he has maintained his friendship with Ferran. He explained: "I spoke with Ferran today. He's very happy and excited about us playing in Paris. We'll tease each other. We're friends."
The interview also had lighter moments. Eric recently suffered a deviated septum injury at Valencia and will have to wear a protective nose mask for the next two months; he joked that he looks like "Zorro or Batman." With Barcelona targeting everything, Eric Garcia is entering a crucial season both on and off the pitch: as captain and with the versatility he brings to Flick's team.
