Bissouma is close to completing his transfer to Ajax. The player has arrived in Amsterdam for a medical examination. After passing the medical, he will sign a contract until June 2027, with an option for a one-year extension. This transfer has sparked widespread discussion among British and Dutch media.

Bissouma played for Tottenham Hotspur for the past four years. British media acknowledge his on-field abilities but focus more on his series of off-field controversies. talkSPORT reporter Jack Johnson stated that it was not surprising that Spurs did not renew his contract, citing multiple off-field issues as key reasons, in addition to a knee injury in his final season. The player was frequently late, and then-manager Ange Postecoglou excluded him from the matchday squad due to "lack of discipline."
This incident was directly related to him posting a video of himself inhaling nitrous oxide on social media. After being suspended, he was caught using nitrous oxide again. The Mirror reported that Bissouma explained that a burglary at his home caused him immense psychological trauma, leading to anxiety, panic, depression, and paranoid thoughts, which prompted him to turn to nitrous oxide.
Despite this psychological context, British media are still warning Ajax. The Sun wrote that Ajax needs to manage Bissouma strictly to prevent past issues from recurring.
Dutch renowned commentator Valentijn Driessen also expressed skepticism on the program "Vandaag Inside": "This Malian player is more addicted to nitrous oxide than attending training. Jordi Cruyff initially refused to sign Noa Lang due to personality issues, but now they are signing such a problematic player, which is asking for trouble."
Although public opinion is filled with concerns, Ajax has still decided to give this midfielder a new opportunity. If the medical examination is completed successfully, Bissouma will officially join the Eredivisie.
