Auxerre Official Announcement
Auxerre Football Club is pleased to announce that Will Still has officially taken over as the head coach of the first team.
The 33-year-old Belgian-British coach has signed a two-year contract with Auxerre, with an option for a one-year extension. He will officially take charge of the first team after the pre-season training resumes.
Will Still previously worked for several clubs in Belgian football, including Lierse and Beerschot, holding various positions before officially becoming a head coach. He then joined Reims as an assistant coach, and a few months later returned to Belgium to join Standard Liège to further hone his coaching skills.
The following year, he returned to the Champagne region club and was soon appointed as the first team's head coach. At the time, he was only 30 years old, becoming the youngest head coach in Europe's top five leagues.
During his tenure at Reims, Still quickly established a tactical style: high pressing and offensive football. Under his leadership, a resilient Reims achieved an impressive 19-match unbeaten streak, ranking as the sixth-longest winning/unbeaten record in Ligue 1 history.
In the 2022-2023 season, he led the team to an 11th-place finish in the league, and 9th the following year. His outstanding coaching performance earned him the favor of Lens. During his time coaching Lens in the Artois region, he once again delivered a solid performance, proving his consistent coaching ability in Ligue 1. He then went to England to coach Southampton.
All members of Auxerre warmly welcome Will Still. His abundant energy, strict demands, and top-flight coaching experience are highly consistent with the club's development goals.
