Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha spoke to the media in the mixed zone following the team's training session. Below is a transcript of his remarks.

How do you feel about all this? You've become a phenomenon at the FIFA World Cup, with so many people following you. How are you experiencing it?

I'm sorry, I don't want to talk about that. We're here because of football, because of the national team, because of the FIFA World Cup.

So I'm very grateful for all of this. But please, let's talk about football.

What has the fans' support meant to you? How would you describe it?

I just want to say thank you to everyone. As I said, we're happy about all of this.

We're also grateful because everything happened because we played well. Thank you very much to all of you.

It's been two days since the draw with Spain. Did you have time to celebrate, or have you been focused on Uruguay the whole time?

When we achieved such an excellent result against Spain, one of the best national teams in the world, of course we had to celebrate after the match.

We were all happy and satisfied. We saw that we played a great game and did very well.

But the next day was a recovery day, and since yesterday, we've only been focusing on the match against Uruguay.

There are rumors that you might join La Paz Athletic after the FIFA World Cup. Is that true? Would you be willing to play in Mexico?

Currently, I have nothing, and I don't know if these rumors are true or false.

My contract with Chaves Sports ended.

After the contract ended, I didn't accept anything because I wanted to focus all my energy on the national team and the FIFA World Cup.

Now that your fame has spread worldwide, how do you manage it?

As I said, I try not to pay attention to these things.

Because if I can sit here today, it's because of football, because of the national team.

I thank everyone again—everyone who is following me.

But what I want to focus on now is training, the national team, and hopefully playing a good match this weekend.

After the match, the President of the Republic spoke with you. Also, regarding Abel Ferreira coaching the Cape Verde national team, does this have an impact on the team?

To be honest, I don't know what's being said outside. There will always be various voices and noise from the outside world.

But we're a very united and very closed team. We know how to deal with these things. Our focus has always been on the national team, training, and matches.

A 70-year-old Brazilian man invited you to Brazil and recorded a video. Will you respond?

No, I won't respond to these things. Most of the time, what's being discussed is not about football, the national team, or the FIFA World Cup.

So let's talk about Uruguay. What do you think about this match?

We always focus on the game, and now the responsibility is indeed greater. Opponents will pay more attention to us and take us more seriously. But we won't change our approach. We'll continue to work hard, continue to compete, and do everything we can to achieve good results.

Now that you're in the spotlight, how do you stay focused?

To be honest, I've always been this way.

Of course, it's not easy to manage all of this. So I try not to get involved in these things. I check my phone less and avoid social media.

Because I'm here for the national team, for football, and for the FIFA World Cup. This has been my dream since I was a child. Now the dream has come true.

I don't think anything can motivate and focus me more than this. Nothing is more important.

After seeing Saudi Arabia draw with Uruguay, do you feel you have a chance to advance from this group?

We feel that we're capable of creating something great. We might be able to get points from them, and we might also win some games.

But we came here to compete. So I don't think we can set our goals too high, because we come from a small country and are a small national team.

But we have a lot of strength and are full of ambition. So we came here to compete.

What does it mean to you that your family is here to support you?

This is very important to me because family means a lot to me. My family has always supported me in everything.

It's very special that they can be here.

My father is here, and my brother is too. So I'm very happy.

I hope to bring more family members, such as other brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews. But sometimes reality is not easy.

Some say Cape Verde's FIFA World Cup performance has become a wonderful showcase for African football. What do you think?

I think so. But we have always been working hard and striving toward bigger goals.

Over the years, we've played excellent matches in many places and had many outstanding performances.

It's just that the FIFA World Cup platform is bigger—it's a global stage. I think the attention now is also because of the World Cup's influence.

But in fact, we have always played many good matches. I'm really happy to see that everyone recognizes this.
