According to Sky Sports, FIFA President Gianni Infantino will remain in his position following marathon crisis negotiations in Morocco.

However, Infantino believes he is only accountable to FIFA's 211 member football federations.

He appears to have assessed that he still commands sufficient support, particularly in South America, Africa, and parts of Asia, to remain in office.

Following a seven-hour meeting on Wednesday, he appeared at a match in the African Women's Football Championship, smiling and sitting next to FIFA General Secretary Mattias Grafström, who had criticized him the previous day.

It remains to be seen how his critics will respond.

They could call an emergency meeting of the FIFA Council or an Extraordinary FIFA Congress and hold a no-confidence vote against Infantino.

Alternatively, they must nominate at least one challenger candidate by November 18 to compete against Infantino in the next presidential election in March.
