Brest Official Announcement
Stade Brestois 29 and Salzburg have reached a transfer agreement for 23-year-old Malian midfielder Mamady Diambou. The player has signed a two-year contract with the club, with an option to extend for a further year.
Mamady Diambou is 1.76 meters tall and plays as a right-footed defensive midfielder. He stands out with his abundant running, wide range of activity, and ability to make continuous sprints in midfield. This Malian international has experience in youth national teams at all levels and made his debut for the senior Malian national team in 2024.
He began his career at Guidars FC, coming from the Malian JMG Academy, which has also produced Doumbia and Hamidou Makalou. The late coach Eric Roy always highly regarded this academy, having praised its work in nurturing and supporting young African talents on many occasions.
In January 2021, Mamady Diambou joined Salzburg. He initially played for their partner club Liefering, appearing in 32 Austrian Second League matches and scoring 3 goals. In the 2023-24 season, he gradually moved up to the first team and played in the Champions League; in the second round of the league, he also played against Brest. In 2023, he was on loan to the Swiss team Luzern before returning to Salzburg.
Diambou will wear the number 6 jersey and has already completed his first joint training session with his new Brest teammates this Thursday.
