Hello Gonçalo, welcome to AC Milan. Within your first 20 days since arriving at AC Milan, could you share your initial impressions with us? Also, what was the main reason you decided to choose AC Milan?
Thank you all very much. Actually, I've been here for three weeks now, and the experience has been truly amazing. Since arriving at AC Milan, this week was my first official training and preparation sessions at the Milanello training center. Personally, this has been my favorite week. The reason is that this week I've truly experienced what this magnificent club is all about. I felt the full power of this place, and I could even sense the special atmosphere in the air.
At the same time, the Serie A season opening is approaching. Right now, my only thought is to get on the pitch as quickly as possible and play. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of preseason friendlies and warm-up matches. I want to compete in official matches as soon as possible.
The reason I chose AC Milan is that it's one of the greatest football clubs in the world. I truly cherish this opportunity, and I deeply appreciate the magnificent project the club presented to me. I'm honored and delighted to be part of this project.
Your father is also following your interview. In AC Milan's long and illustrious history, there have been many outstanding number 9 players. Among these legendary strikers, was there one who inspired you or was a childhood idol?
It's really difficult to name just one person. That's because AC Milan's history is so bright and glorious. For example, I've watched many of Marco van Basten's matches through videos. Ronaldo Nazário (the original Ronaldo) is also included. But for me, my favorite and the one who has influenced me the most is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Zlatan is one of my favorite players in the entire football world, and I've publicly said this many times. If I had to choose one from AC Milan's legendary strikers, I would choose Zlatan. The reason is that watching him play made me grow up, and throughout my football career, I've always watched him play. He's been a constant presence in my journey as a footballer.
Hello Gonçalo, over the past four years at Paris Saint-Germain, you've won important titles. Now that you're here at AC Milan, is your main objective to try your best to win trophies?
Yes, absolutely no doubt about it. In fact, since the beginning of my career as a player, I've won almost every trophy I could possibly win. In my mind, I always have the desire to win every match and want to be part of a team that always wins. The reason I came to AC Milan is to fight for this objective – to help the team by giving my all in training and matches, to work hard and put in the effort. The main objective is to try our best to win the Serie A title.
How do you feel about working with our new coach Ruben Amorim?
It's amazing, truly amazing. This is the first time in my career that I'm working with him directly. When I was playing, I faced him when he was coaching other teams on the pitch. But working under him now is a truly wonderful feeling. I strongly agree with and appreciate his tactical ideas and philosophy of building the team. I'm proud to be part of his tactical system. I believe that in the future, he will successfully implement his objectives and provide strong support to the team.
Gonçalo, are you aware of the curse about the number 9 at AC Milan? In the past, many world-class strikers have failed after wearing the number 9 shirt here. What do you think about this? Does it affect you?
To be honest, I've never believed in any curse. The only thing I believe in in my dictionary is hard work and effort. To be funny about it, I think the "curse" affects the number 9 shirt more than it affects me, so I'm not worried. As for results, we'll see what happens on the pitch – everyone will be watching.
Gonçalo, what is your personal goal for the number of goals you want to score by the end of the season? Can you tell us specifically?
I personally don't like setting a specific goal for scoring a certain number of goals before the season starts. Yes, as a striker, I expect to score many goals for the team. But among all my objectives, the most important and constant priority is to help the team win matches. When the season ends, we can then count the exact number of goals and see how everything turned out.
Hello Gonçalo, I have a question about the transfer details. When was your first contact with AC Milan? The reason I ask is that before AC Milan officially announced your signing, we heard rumors that you completed your medical about 15 days earlier. Do you remember the specifics from that time?
No, those rumors are not true. Our first contact was during the World Cup. The club reached out to me then. After that, I underwent my medical and signed the contract the very next day after the medical was completed. So the news that "the medical was completed 15 days before the official announcement" is not accurate. In fact, I signed the contract the day after my medical. I would say the entire process was very quick. At that time, both the club and I wanted to finalize everything as quickly as possible. That was the best and most appropriate way.
