On the talkSPORT podcast, former Manchester United star Bryan Robson believes that after confirming the signing of Carlos Baleba, Manchester United should continue to push for the acquisition of Lewis Hall.

Manchester United has already signed several midfielders, but there remain gaps in other positions. The 0-2 loss to Hull City in the opening fixture of the season exposed this weakness. Luke Shaw, who played in every Premier League match for Manchester United last season, was at fault for Hull City's second goal, and he is currently the club's only senior left-back.

Furthermore, with Manchester United's return to the Champions League and considering Shaw's injury history, there are concerns about whether the 31-year-old can cope with the increased fixture congestion.

Throughout the summer transfer window, Manchester United has been linked with a move for Hall. The Chelsea left-back is valued at approximately £60 million.

Robson stated: "When you're competing in cup competitions and the Champions League as well, there are a lot of matches in a season. So you basically always need two quality players in the same position.

"Luke Shaw is a very good player, but Hall would be an excellent addition to the squad. However, given the club's financial constraints and the fact that you've just spent £70 million on Baleba, you never know if the club will have enough funds for another signing. We've already spent a lot of money, so it's a balancing act, and you have to judge which position is most important."

On another note, Robson believes Manchester United can challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, but he insists that defending champions Arsenal remain "the hardest team to beat."

He added: "I don't think we're far behind Manchester City, especially since they changed their manager. Yes, they signed some good players, but their squad has also been weakened because some top players departed this summer. I think the top four in the Premier League this season will be similar to last season.

"Arsenal look very strong. They made some excellent signings this summer, and with their existing players, Arsenal will be the hardest team to beat. I'd say Manchester City are next, then Liverpool, and ourselves. However, Chelsea also made an excellent start, and signing Rodgers was a superb piece of business. I was very surprised they managed to sign him, because I think he's a really good player."
