According to renowned reporter Sami Mokbel, Sunderland has reopened negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur, hoping to permanently sign Austrian defender Kevin Danso.

Previously, Sami Mokbel revealed on Friday evening that Sunderland had proposed to loan Danso from Tottenham, but the offer was rejected. Now, Sunderland has returned to the negotiating table and begun discussing a permanent transfer with Tottenham.
If the two clubs can agree on a transfer fee, Danso's personal terms are not expected to be an obstacle to the deal. Negotiations between the clubs are currently ongoing, but no agreement has been reached yet.
Meanwhile, Tottenham may need to find a replacement for Danso before approving his departure. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi hopes to sign a replacement with Premier League experience.
Danso joined Tottenham on loan from Lens in January 2025, with Tottenham subsequently making the deal permanent later that year for £20.9 million.
