According to Metro, former Arsenal striker Walcott said Arsenal should have signed Chelsea winger Rogers this summer.

Arsenal pursued Vinicius, Alvarez, and Rogers but ultimately failed to sign these targets. Chelsea signed Rogers for £117 million early in the transfer window.

Walcott had to choose between Tsolis and Rogers when creating a combined Arsenal and Chelsea lineup on social media. He said: "I like Tsolis, but I'd pick Rogers. We should have signed him."

Walcott is not alone in his disappointment over Arsenal missing out on Rogers. Ian Wright said on "Stick to Football" that Arsenal really needed Rogers and that he would have loved to see the player join Arsenal.

Wright said: "You'd say we already have these types of players, but this is exactly what Arteta wants. He needs a player in this position. Saka, Odegaard, and Havertz are all back and can play together, but what Arteta wants is a game-changing player."

Wright also suggested that Arsenal's shift away from pursuing Vinicius might have affected their chances of signing Rogers. He said: "Chelsea felt, if you're not willing to pay that price, then we will. I'm disappointed. I really wanted to see him come."

Arteta previously stated that Arsenal did not regret the departures of Martinelli and Trossard. Arsenal also signed Guimarães, Konsa, Hincapié, and Tsolis this summer, and signed Meslier on a free transfer.
