This Thursday, Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, stated that the 2030 World Cup final will be held at the Grand Stade de Casablanca Hassan II, which is currently under construction.

Fouzi Lekjaa is among prominent figures running for the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) in the election campaign officially launched this Thursday in Morocco. Amid applause and cheers, he declared: "The Benslimane province (Casablanca region, where the stadium is being built) will have the honor of hosting the 2030 World Cup final. ... Anyone who wishes to be part of the next government has no choice but to promote the development of Benslimane province."

Lekjaa also serves as a ministerial delegate responsible for budget affairs and has been instrumental in promoting the rise of Moroccan football in recent years. These remarks were made at an Authenticity and Modernity Party campaign event held in Bouznika, a suburb of Rabat.

The 2030 World Cup will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. Additionally, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will each host one opening match for their national teams to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1930 World Cup, all of which were played in Montevideo.

Morocco's Dream

Although both Morocco and Spain are keen to host the World Cup final, FIFA has not yet announced the specific venues for each country, so the location of the final remains undetermined.

Meanwhile, the head of the football federation also expressed his wish that the next World Cup final would feature Morocco against France "so we can get revenge." He was referring to the quarterfinal match between the two teams in the 2022 World Cup, which France won 2-0.

The Grand Stade Hassan II is expected to open by the end of 2027 and will have a capacity of 115,000 spectators, potentially becoming the world's largest stadium. Morocco hopes to use this stadium to compete with Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for the right to host the 2030 World Cup final.
