In the Club World Cup Round of 16, Al Hilal defeated Manchester City after extra time to advance to the next round.

With this victory, Al Hilal became the first Asian team to eliminate a European club in Club World Cup history.

Previously, three Asian teams reached the final but all lost to Real Madrid, while Guangzhou Evergrande also suffered two defeats to European opponents.

Al Hilal will face Fluminense in the next round.
