Olympique Marseille sporting director Rolfes was interviewed by the media in Blankenhain, discussing the transfer developments for the left-back position.

According to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen hopes to sign Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli as the team's new left-back. The Spanish player is considered the closest candidate to replace the departed Grimaldo. However, despite Italian reports claiming the deal is done, there are apparently still some crucial details to resolve in this transfer.

For this position, Bayer Leverkusen currently has two hot candidates: 27-year-old defender Facundo Medina from Olympique Marseille, and 25-year-old defender Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli. The latter is the preferred choice for the Bundesliga team.

Rolfes stated: "We are working on this position. Ultimately, it's important to find the best solution. If it takes an extra day or two, that's fine. There's nothing to announce yet."

Rolfes' cautious statement about the Miguel transfer does not mean that this transfer is only waiting for the final procedures to be completed. Although both parties are getting closer on the transfer fee, which is currently around 26 million euros, plus bonus clauses, the total deal could reach 30 million euros. But apparently, it's not just a matter of waiting for signatures and routine medical examinations.

Rolfes said: "The agreement is certainly very close, but ultimately everything must be agreed upon by all parties. If Grimaldo had left last year, Miguel Gutiérrez would have been a candidate then. He is similar to Grimaldo in many ways."
