On August 30, Chelsea announced the signing of Argentine goalkeeper E. Martínez, and former Premier League midfielder Hargreaves and former Chelsea captain Cahill praised the Blues' new signing.

Hargreaves commented: "I think he can be the best signing for any Premier League team. He is a World Cup winner, and I have never seen a team need a goalkeeper more than Chelsea.
