According to Sébastien Denis, a journalist for Foot Mercato, Renato Sanches, whose contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended prematurely this summer, is currently in negotiations with Getafe. The 26-year-old Portuguese midfielder has made joining the La Liga team his priority.

Sanches originally had one year left on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, but the two parties ended their cooperation early this summer, making him a free agent. After unsatisfactory stints at Roma and Benfica, he regained his form during his recent loan spell at Panathinaikos.

During his time in Greece, Sanches made 24 appearances while overcoming the injury problems that had long plagued him, and his physical condition returned to an ideal level. The Euro 2016 winner thus became one of the more sought-after players on the free agent market in September.

Reports indicate that Sanches had previously explicitly rejected lucrative offers from MLS, the Saudi Pro League, and Brazilian clubs, as he still wishes to remain in a major European league and prioritizes sporting projects.

Clubs including Chelsea and Lille had previously shown interest in him, attracted by his free agent status and extensive experience in high-level competitions.

However, the possibility of Sanches joining a La Liga club is currently increasing. According to the latest news from Foot Mercato, the midfielder, who has 32 appearances for the Portuguese national team, has listed Getafe as his top choice.

Getafe, currently ranked 15th in La Liga, can offer Sanches the opportunity for regular playing time in a top five league, which is very attractive to the player. In addition, if he joins Getafe, he will be reunited with familiar players such as Orel Mangala and Martín Satriano.

Sanches himself hopes to move to the outskirts of Madrid to join Getafe, and negotiations for this free transfer have already begun between all parties.
