According to Japanese media Sponichi, Japan national team coach Hajime Moriyasu stated after watching an Urawa match that the national team rosters for September and October will largely follow the World Cup squad, while also considering suitable candidates based on league performance.

Moriyasu said: "Basically, I think it will be players who were selected for the World Cup. It's only been a few months since the World Cup ended, and it's hard to say if drastic changes will occur within two and a half months. After watching the start of the J.League and overseas leagues, I want to call up suitable players, and based on an objective assessment of the players, taking into account both the best current candidates and future development, I want to build the team."

Regarding defender Ko Itakura, who intends to withdraw from the Asian Cup in January next year, Moriyasu clearly stated that he still wants to call him up in September and October, saying: "He basically cannot participate in the Asian Cup, but the situation may change later, so I don't think there's a need to change the call-up approach for September."
