Vasilije Adzic scored with the final kick of the game as Sassuolo beat Juventus 3-2 in a Serie A classic.

Four goals were scored in the space of 12 minutes in the final stages at MAPEI Stadium, as Juve suffered their first league defeat of the season in remarkable fashion.

Nico Gonzalez struck the crossbar early on as Juve started brightly, but the drama all came in the final knockings.

Sassuolo went ahead through Sebastiano Esposito's neat finish in the 65th minute, but Juve substitute Edon Zhegrova kept his composure to level in the 82nd.

That goal, however, sparked a frantic finale.

First, Darryl Bakola nipped onto a loose ball, charged forward and teed up Kieron Bowie to restore Sassuolo's lead in the 89th minute, after Juve had squandered a couple of chances at the other end.

Another fine Zhegrova finish seemed to have settled matters in the 91st minute, but there was time for one more twist.

Adzic, who is on loan from Juve, found himself in acres of space in the Bianconeri's box, and duly curled a sumptuous finish into the top-right corner to send the home fans into raptures.

Juve downed by one of their own

Adzic has contributed to goals in his last three Serie A games, scoring twice and laying on one assist.

He made his first 16 Serie A appearances for Juventus, scoring one goal. He went into this game as the first player born in 2006 or later to have netted at least one goal for two different teams in the competition.

Adzic, perhaps understandably, did not celebrate against his parent club, but Juve only have themselves to blame.

Luciano Spalletti stalked straight down the tunnel at full-time, and he will no doubt be seething.

Juve had the better of the chances, having 18 shots to Sassuolo's 10, which is their lowest in a league game this term, but their defending was atrocious in the final stages.

Sassuolo, meanwhile, continued their good recent record at home against Juve.

They have won three of their last four home meetings with the Bianconeri, after only securing one victory in their first nine home matches against them (D2 L6).
