Sassuolo rattled the woodwork and forced saves, but are still goalless at the break against SPAL in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.

SPAL were the only remaining Serie B side in the Coppa Italia, having eliminated Bari, Crotone and Monza on their way to the Round of 16.

Filip Djuricic was unlucky not to put the hosts in front after 23 minutes, as his ferocious strike from eight yards on a poor clearance bounced off the inside of the far post.

Mert Muldur at one end and Lorenzo Dickmann at the other fired just off target, but on 41 minutes Sassuolo had a double chance.

First Giacomo Raspadori stung the goalkeeper’s gloves, then Brian Oddei blasted the follow-up wide.
