Tigres tore apart Puebla with a resounding 7-0 victory, highlighted by Ángel Correa’s first goal in Liga MX, in week four of the Apertura 2025.

The blue-and-yellow celebrations began early, as Ozziel Herrera smashed home in the 7th minute with a thunderous strike into the corner, leaving goalkeeper Iván Rodríguez with no chance.

After a long spell without clear chances, Tigres doubled their lead in the 37th minute through Diego Lainez. “El Factor” finished off a superb move from Juan Brunetta, who delivered a pinpoint cross to the far post for the Mexican winger to head home.

The second half could not have started better for the hosts, who killed off the game in just over ten minutes of relentless attacking. Brunetta struck first, making it 3-0 in the 51st minute with a low drive that Rodríguez failed to stop.

Moments later came the highlight of the night – Ángel Correa’s debut goal in Liga MX. The World Cup winner marked the occasion with a stunning strike, curling the ball beyond the reach of the “Spider” for 4-0 in the 55th minute, his fifth goal in all competitions for the Monterrey side.

Puebla’s misery deepened when Nico Díaz deflected an otherwise harmless Correa effort into his own net for 5-0 in the 58th minute. Guido Pizarro’s team were having one of those nights when everything went right – even substitute Diego Sánchez got in on the act, scoring the first goal of his professional career in the 71st minute to make it 6-0.

Pablo Guede’s men were reduced to ten after Ariel Gamarra was sent off in the 75th minute, and the perfect night was capped by André Pierre-Gignac, who converted from the spot to end his goal drought dating back to November 6, 2024, and seal the 7-0 scoreline.

The victory lifts Tigres to nine points at the top of the table – with a game in hand – while Puebla languish third from bottom with just three points.
