According to "Sport", Venezia, the club that just earned promotion to Serie A, has contacted Real Zaragoza in recent days to inquire about Alex Gómez and express interest in signing the player.

This contact, revealed early by Italian journalist Di Marzio and confirmed by our publication, has not yet become an official offer. This is because the fee Venezia proposed exceeds expectations, and currently there is no intention to make an official offer for the 18-year-old defender. Gómez has also received a stronger offer from another foreign club from one of Europe's top five leagues, though not a Spanish club. All signs point to Gómez's future lying abroad.

Negotiations over Gómez's transfer will accelerate in late June and early July. For now, his departure appears virtually certain. The price Zaragoza is demanding from Venezia exceeds his release clause.

Gómez began this season registered with the academy, under a contract running through 2028 with a three-year renewal option. However, in December, he signed a new deal with the first team. Those close to Gómez believe this contract is invalid because the player was not registered with the first team during the January transfer window.

Gómez has played 13 league matches and 2 Copa del Rey matches this season. He is also a Spain U18 international and will participate in next year's UEFA U19 European Championship qualifiers. Based on current circumstances, a transfer appears to be his only path forward, as since Lalo took over as sporting director in March, neither side has made progress on contract renewal talks.

The two parties cannot agree on wages or his role in the team. Since taking office, Lalo successfully retained Piña and Terrell without issue and also completed Barachina's contract extension. However, negotiations with Gómez have stalled for some time and have essentially broken down, making a reversal difficult.

Lalo stated on Friday: "Gómez's contract remains valid—whether it's the one from January or the one before full first-team registration. There are still two months left in the transfer window. We are counting on him in our plans and have tried to extend and update his contract over the past three months to ensure his compensation matches that of other young players. I began this effort immediately upon joining the club.

Both sides have not seen eye to eye. We will find a good solution for everyone, but we will not let any player leave for free. The current plan is for him to return to the team under some contract on the first day of preseason training." This statement only reinforces the belief that he will leave.

This center-back is one of Zaragoza's most promising academy talents, having just turned 18 on February 14. Earlier this season, he first played for Aragón under Emilio Rayas, and then Sieles gave him first-team opportunities, alternating him between center-back and right-back. When David Navarro took over, his playing time decreased, but he still made 15 official appearances throughout the season, starting 9 of them, for a total of 930 minutes. His future now appears to be moving away from Real Zaragoza, and given the current situation, it is quite likely he will not participate in first-team preseason training.
