According to reports from the British media outlet i, Newcastle United rejected Arsenal's initial formal offer for Guimaraes, but Arsenal remains at the negotiating table and is expected to submit new offers. Guimaraes is also eager to move to Arsenal.

It is understood that Arsenal's offer was significantly below Newcastle United's asking price, with the latter valuing Guimaraes at over £80 million.

So far, all negotiations have been conducted through third parties, with Guimaraes' representatives having informal communications with Newcastle United.

Guimaraes arrived in Spain on Monday morning as pre-arranged with Newcastle United and reported to the club's training base in La Manga, with sources emphasizing that he has completed all requirements. He was scheduled to undergo a medical examination with Newcastle United this morning (due to participating in the World Cup), but this arrangement may be disrupted by transfer matters.

Despite Guimaraes' desire to transfer, there has been no repeat of last year's scenario where Isak "went on strike" and refused to participate in Newcastle United's pre-season tour. However, the possibility of Guimaraes leaving St. James' Park this summer is increasing, and he would become the third key player to depart after Tonali and Gordon.
